Vincent Gengaro, III, PT, DPT, CMP
Vincent Gengaro, III has been employed as a physical therapist at ActiveCare Physical Therapy since March 2012. Vincent attended Quinnipiac University located in Hamden, CT where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Health Science Studies in 2009. He then went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac University's School of Health Science in 2012.
Vincent is a manual based therapist, but uses a combination of therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, soft tissue techniques, and functional movement patterns in order to achieve patient goals. While at Quinnipiac, Vincent was trained under the diagnosis and treatment techniques of Cyriax, which includes selective tissue tension testing in order to diagnose orthopedic injuries. He believes in a multi-faceted treatment approach using hands on skills, exercises, and evidenced based practice to achieve desired functional outcomes. He is an advocate for one-on-one patient care supported by the patient also being an active participant in their recovery. His special interest area include orthopedic and sports physical therapy, post surgical rehabilitation for the spine and extremities, and rehabilitation of the shoulder girdle complex.
Vincent has received post-graduate training in several techniques including The Mulligan Concept, which incorporates mobilizations with movement in order to improve pain free range of motion of the spinal column and extremities. In 2014 Vincent became a Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP) by the Mulligan Concept Teachers Association. He is one of only 15 certified practitioners in the state of New Jersey. He has been trained in Active Release Technique (ART) to treat soft tissue injuries and nerve entrapment syndromes of the upper quarter. Vincent also has a strong background in the widely accepted McKenzie Approach for spinal rehabilitation and uses treatment techniques from various sources including Maitland, Shirley Sahrmann, Kaltenborn and Mark Laslett.
Vincent is a life-long resident of Northern New Jersey, but has also lived in Connecticut for several years during his physical therapy schooling. His interests include health and fitness, sports and athletics, and spending time with friends and family.
Vincent is also fluent in Spanish.
