Therapeutic Exercises: The performance of planned physical movements or activities intended to allow the patient to decrease or prevent impairments, enhance function, reduce risk, optimize overall health and enhance fitness & well-being. Therapeutic exercise includes agility training, body mechanics training, coordination exercises, range of motion exercises & soft tissue stretching, relaxation exercises, strength, power & endurance exercises.
Therapeutic Activities: involves the use of functional activities (e.g., bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, catching, and overhead activities, rolling, sit to stand activities) to improve functional performance.
Neuromuscular Re-education: refers to a treatment technique or exercise performed with the purpose of improving the level of communication between the body and the brain. NMR improves balance, coordination, kinesthetic sense, posture, and proprioception to a person who has lost neuromuscular control via injury, chronic diseases or conditions, surgery, or other means.
Gait Training: Gait training or gait rehabilitation is the act of learning how to walk after sustaining an injury or disability. This procedure may assists patients whose walking abilities have been impaired by neurological, muscular, or skeletal abnormalities or trauma.
A physical therapy modality is a method, device or substance used to assist in the treatment a disorder or injury. Some examples are, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, moist heat, ice, and mechanical traction.
